- ➤ J.J. Abrams' film The Great Beyond, which was filmed under the working title (Ghostwriter) last August in Providence, stars Glenn Powell, Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey and Samuel L. Jackson and is now in post-production for a spring release. The Providence Journal

- ➤ A commission of education leaders recommended a new funding formula that would boost state aid by $590 million and adjust local spending requirements for districts including Newport. Governor McKee and House Speaker Shekarchi said they would review the proposal when the legislative session begins Tuesday. The Boston Globe

- ➤ URI researchers have spent over a decade developing real-time mapping tools to help officials and residents prepare for severe weather today.
