- ➤ REGENT Craft is testing its fully electric seaglider on the water from Port of Davisville as part of its certification process with the US Coast Guard and International Maritime Organization + the vehicle will serve commercial and defense clients with deliveries expected in 2027. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today at 5:30 p.m., the state Council on Elementary and Secondary Education in Providence will consider a proposal to open a career technical high school — influential unions and construction trades worry it may affect local programs. - ➤ Brown University launched Brown Ever True, a campus-wide healing and recovery initiative focused on mental health, psychological wellness, and safety as it prepares for the spring semester (including a planned memorial service for victims of the December attack). - ➤ New England Technical Academy is a proposed charter public high school funded like other charter institutions and designed to serve underserved students with open-enrollment career and technical education in IT, robotics, and health sciences. - ➤ Brown University has launched its campus recovery initiative that includes a planned memorial service later this month to honor two students killed in the Dec.-13 incident and has increased campus security and counseling services as the Barus and Holley engineering building remains closed until Jan.-20 for updates. - ➤ The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and Trout Unlimited partner to collect whole Christmas trees free of decorations for trout habitat restoration using conifer revetments.
