CULTURE NEWS

  • Thirteen former Journal photographers and artists will open their Post-Journalism exhibit at Ritual Spaces on Thursday, Feb. 5 (the free reception runs 5 to 9 p.m. and the show continues until Mar. 1).  The Providence Journal

  • Brown University researchers say parts of the tropics, like the Bogotá Basin, may warm faster than expected with rising CO2. Analyzing lake sediments from central Colombia, they found Pliocene land temperatures were nearly twice that of tropical oceans & signal a future risk to more than 11 million locals.  Brown University

  • Residents remain frustrated as snowbanks and icy sidewalks block roads more than a week after a heavy storm dumped over a foot of snow. City officials said they prioritized plowing streets while property owners must clear sidewalks and face fines as melting snow may re-freeze tonight.  10 WJAR
  • Angus Davis, a Rhode Island tech star known for successful startups, joined the War Department's Science, Technology, and Innovation Board as one of 18 members on Monday, Feb. 2 + he stays tied to the state despite his official Puerto Rico residency for tax reasons.  Go Local Prov
  • Former Mayor Joe Paolino said he and friends once examined several planes in Florida, one linked to Epstein — though needed repairs halted plans. He added that he ultimately saved his money by choosing JetBlue instead.  The Boston Globe
