  • Joe Diggs, the 2025 Cape Cod Artist of the Year, creates paintings that blend African American history with his family legacy and will paint the 75th anniversary mural for The Melody Tent. He mentors incarcerated youth on art and has upcoming shows in Boston and Venice (Italy).  10 WJAR

  • Brown University professor Michael Satlow received a $249,956 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to lead a three-year project that uses AI to analyze over 130,000 Jewish texts spanning 18 centuries—offering new insights into historical knowledge sharing in Providence.  Brown University

  • Providence City Council dedicated the intersection of North Main Street and Olney as Miya Brophy-Baermann Memorial Square to honor the 24-year-old local graduate whose legacy continues to inspire the community.  10 WJAR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rhode Islanders face high living costs, poor housing and food insecurity as a Feb. 4 survey by Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Brown University showed well-being stuck at 57—cost of living was 21 and housing 30, reflecting no recent progress.  Brown University

  • Providence College beat Butler 97-87 in double overtime on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the AMP. PC head coach Kim English said the team's hard work and key plays helped turn the game around.  The Providence Journal
