- ➤ Brown University held a campus memorial service on Feb. 6 to honor Ella Cook and MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, whose passing in December affected the community. - ➤ Providence experienced light snowfall this weekend after a heavy storm two weeks ago (with frigid temperatures expected overnight), and Mayor Brett Smiley said city crews are using plows while residents clear sidewalks and check on neighbors. 10 WJAR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The American Heart Association warns adults over 45 and those with heart risk factors to be cautious when shoveling snow as cold weather can strain the heart. Experts advise using proper tools + techniques to reduce injury risk as icy conditions persist. The Providence Journal

- ➤ The Rhode Island men’s basketball team won 82 to 77 over Richmond on Saturday, Feb. 7 as Tyler Cochran scored a career-high 34 points. Head coach Archie Miller said injuries have limited the lineup and the Rams will face Fordham on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Ryan Center. The Providence Journal
