- ➤ The Providence Friars beat Creighton 85 to 82 on Saturday afternoon in Omaha — Sellers scored 27 points with 20 in the second half and Edwards added 18; the team will host Marquette at 7 p.m. before ending the season against Georgetown on Saturday. The Providence Journal
- ➤ The URI women's basketball team clinched the Atlantic 10 regular-season championship with a 72-48 win over George Washington on Feb. 28 at the Ryan Center in Kingston. - ➤ The seventh-ranked Portsmouth Patriots stunned No. 2 Lincoln today with a 63-45 quarterfinal upset that featured a game-changing dunk and technical foul moment. The team prepares to face No. 6 Central on March 3 at Rhode Island College. The Providence Journal
