  • Providence College's men's basketball team earned its third consecutive win Monday at Creighton. The team surged ahead with a six point advantage in the final minute — though a last second three pointer fell short, and Jaylin Sellers led with 27 points.  Go Local Prov
  • Portsmouth girls basketball beat North Kingstown in a Division I quarterfinal upset on Saturday, Feb. 28 (a road game), surprising local fans with strong play.  The Providence Journal
  • Brown University honored the Bennett family for decades of local hockey excellence by dedicating the Bennett Family Suite at Meehan Auditorium and recognizing the 2026 Senior Class along with the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Ivy League Championship team.  Go Local Prov
  • URI women’s basketball clinched the A — 10 regular season title by defeating George Washington 72 — 48 on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Ryan Center.  The Providence Journal
  • Providence College hockey clinched the regular season Hockey East title after beating UNH 3-2 in Durham on Saturday. The team now stands at 51 points and will play its final game against UConn on Saturday, Mar. 7 at 4:00 p.m.  Go Local Prov
  • Ponaganset girls wrestling clinched a one-point win over North Providence to secure the 2026 RIIL State Championship on Sunday, Mar. 1 at the PCTA. The victory highlights strong local athletic talent.  The Providence Journal
  • The Rhode Island Hockey Hall of Fame will induct its ninth class at a celebration and dinner on Saturday, Aug. 15 (at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet in Cranston), honoring figures such as Brad Boss, George Patrick Duffy, Eddie Lee, George Sage, and Ed Zifcak who shaped local hockey.  The Providence Journal
