Good morning, Providence. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 17th of March.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, Rhode Island kidney doctor Dr. Rasha Alawieh was stopped from re-entering the country and later sent to Lebanon after a federal judge ordered that she not be moved without 48 hours notice. The government flew her from Logan to Paris on Friday night and then to Lebanon, and a hearing to address her case is set for 10 a.m. Monday at the John J. Moakley Courthouse — her colleagues say this action could worsen the local shortage of kidney doctors.  The Boston Globe
