  • Local residents and visitors from Massachusetts visited Congressman Patrick Kennedy’s Providence office today to sign a condolence register for John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, continuing a regional tradition (honoring the Kennedy legacy).  The Providence Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Lincoln police said a person dumped several garbage bags along Moshassuck Valley Industrial Highway on Saturday+ fleeing the scene after being caught on surveillance; anyone with tips is asked to call police.  10 WJAR

CULTURE NEWS

  • Three local artists received $30,000 MacColl Johnson Fellowships from the Rhode Island Foundation after 144 artists competed, giving them the freedom to focus on their craft. The grants, among the largest of their kind nationally, support projects ranging from community documentation to innovative textile art.  The Boston Globe
  • Sonia's Market in Cranston, a once small ethnic grocery, is now a popular lunch spot serving Armenian and Mediterranean dishes such as marinated eggplant sandwiches and lahmejun.   • Providence offers an arts weekend with Lil Rhody Laugh Riot starting today in Providence and East Providence — Ballet RI performing at Woodman Center on March 28, and Emmanuel Ax leading a benefit concert at CMW Center on March 28.   • On Tuesday, March 24, Brown hosted BEAR Day on College Hill, honoring staff with awards for innovation, leadership, and diversity through a heartfelt ceremony and reception in Sayles Hall. The event celebrated years of service + highlighted the university’s commitment to its community.  Brown University

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Gravy, the wild turkey that recovered from a January car accident, is back chasing cars at a busy intersection in Middletown today. The state Department of Environmental Management is tracking him — it plans to relocate him to a wildlife refuge to help ensure his long-term safety.  The Boston Globe

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers heading from Cranston for the beach or airport face delays as the Route 10 North ramp will close Friday, March 27 for four months for work on retaining walls and ramps as part of the Huntington Viaduct project — detouring traffic via Reservoir Avenue before reconnecting with I-95 South.  The Providence Journal
