- ➤ Owners of a downtown building halted a mural at The Dark Lady meant to honor Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska amid local criticism. - ➤ The Real Housewives of Rhode Island debuts on April 2 on Bravo, bringing a new look to our local scene — the show is part of a national franchise that will showcase our community. The Providence Journal
- ➤ Visitors can explore Tiverton’s Fort Barton today to walk in the footsteps of historic figures like John Hancock and Paul Revere and see the original earthen fortifications, trails, and an observation tower with views of the Sakonnet River - parking is across from Tiverton Town Hall at 343 Highland Road. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Brown University admitted 2,564 students (1,674 regular and 890 early decision applicants) to its Class of 2030 on March 26, and many will benefit from robust financial aid as they prepare to enroll. Brown University
- ➤ State and local leaders, including Gov. Dan McKee and Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green, held a press conference Friday morning to tout progress on Providence school construction. Since state intervention in 2019, the district has opened six schools, with upgrades scheduled for summer and fall (improving technology, safety, and learning spaces). Downtown Providence
- ➤ Brown University School of Public Health and Bryant University launched a new pathway program to guarantee eligible Bryant graduates admission to Brown’s master of public health program. Graduates must have at least a 3.25 GPA to qualify for a scholarship that covers 35% of tuition and gain exposure through lectures and advising. Brown University
- ➤ State officials report that the Attendance Matters RI campaign reduced chronic absenteeism by 12 percentage points from 2021-22 to 2024-25 even as 22% of students still miss a significant portion of school days, and stalled efforts like the Attendance for Success Act suggest more state authority is needed across districts.
