ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ After a fire in the basement of a three-and-a-half story home on Sorrento Street Saturday morning, the Providence Fire Department said four families were displaced as firefighters responded at 8:00 a.m., assisted a resident searching for her dog, and two firefighters sustained minor injuries even though no occupants were hurt—cause investigations remain underway—. - ➤ A man died on March 28 in West Warwick after a tree fell on him on Clyde Street—firefighters removed the tree and he was declared dead on scene—and his body was then taken by the Medical Examiner’s Office. ABC 6

- ➤ Jennifer Warren, 48, was reported missing in February after she was last seen leaving Newport Hospital in December—her mother traveled from New York and vowed to keep searching until she is found—and officials urge anyone with information to call Bristol Police at 401-253-6900. ABC 6
- ➤ Cranston police discovered a sophisticated hidden compartment in a rental vehicle during a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation on Thursday at 9:58 a.m. near Park and Reservoir avenues – they seized about 11 kilograms of contraband including cocaine, fentanyl and other drugs along with cash valued at roughly $385K – and charged a local college student with drug trafficking. - ➤ John O’Hurley visited Providence Saturday as part of the Little Rhody Laugh-Riot comedy festival, where he discussed his special ties to the city. The Seinfeld star and Providence College alumnus (whose father also attended the college) highlighted his connection during the event. 10 WJAR
- ➤ A new documentary chronicles how Rhode Island artist Michael Townsend and seven friends secretly lived in an unused space at Providence Place Mall for four years until security discovered them in 2007—leading to a misdemeanor trespassing charge. - ➤ A partial solar eclipse — with about 14% of the sun obscured — will be visible on Aug. 12 in Rhode Island, and the next time our state will be near totality is May 1, 2079 when the path of totality crosses the region. Additional eclipses will occur elsewhere in North America in the coming years. The Providence Journal

- ➤ McCoy Stadium, where the Pawtucket Red Sox played until six years ago, is being torn down piece by piece after sitting empty since 2019—city officials sold some of its seats. A new high school will break ground on the site on April 10. 10 WJAR
