CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Newport Folk Festival has added actor Michael Shannon and guitarist Tom Morello to its lineup. Shannon will perform REM songs with Jason Narducy on Friday, July 24 and Morello will take the stage on Sunday, July 26 at Fort Adams State Park. The Providence Journal

- ➤ Today, The Manton Avenue Project empowers Olneyville youth with free after-school playwriting and performance programs at its clubhouse near school. - ➤ Providence officials have proposed a Green Revolving Fund with an initial $3 million to upgrade renewable energy and efficiency in the city’s 130 buildings for carbon neutrality by 2040. The proposal was announced at Roger Williams Park and the Council will consider the ordinance on April 16 (adding a key step in local climate efforts). The Providence Journal
- ➤ Homelessness in Rhode Island has grown despite a 14-year roadmap and more than $100 million in funding—prompting the housing secretary to review agency spending and hire a consultant for a new plan while advocates call for a housing first approach. The Providence Journal
