- ➤ Crossroads Rhode Island opened three new outdoor spaces at its Broad Street headquarters on Thursday, Apr. 16 to improve safety for individuals experiencing homelessness. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Smithfield public schools have agreed to a five-part corrective plan after an attorney general report found the district did not follow proper procedures when handling a report of antisemitic hazing during a football practice. The district will review policies, train staff, and conduct a climate survey to ensure a safer environment for students. The Boston Globe
- ➤ Burrillville Public Schools announced that the last day of school will be Thursday, June 18, after the state education council approved a two-day calendar reduction. The change comes as districts adjust schedules following the Blizzard of 2026. 10 WJAR
- ➤ Brown University is planning a new economics department building at campus property along Brook Street (between Benevolent and Charlesfield) to unify its fragmented department. Officials will choose an architect by summer and begin construction in 2027 for a facility featuring a common area, labs, offices, and expanded classrooms. 10 WJAR

- ➤ Salve Regina University biology professor Christine Ramsay explained that local coastal erosion will be combated using living shorelines that include Christmas trees & reef balls to absorb storm energy and boost marine life.
