- ➤ Immigration and Customs Enforcement said on April 24 a detainment action at Rhode Island Hospital targeted a Dominican national who became combative and was tasered amid a protest outside the hospital, and the agency said its officers used minimal force due to the individual’s violent history—which includes past domestic violence charges. - ➤ Brown will host a three-day event called 130 Years of Jewish Life at Brown from Nov 7 to 9 that honors the long history of its Jewish community. The event will feature panels, meals and social gatherings—and will invite alumni, students and faculty to join the celebration. Brown University

- ➤ Eight Brown University faculty have been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences as part of a nearly 250-member class that honors top scholars in various fields.
