- ➤ Organizers with the Party for Socialism and Liberation Rhode Island led an anti-deportation protest in Providence on April 27 aimed against ICE activities in the community. The event followed a protest near Rhode Island Hospital days earlier in which a person was tased — adding to local concerns over ICE actions. ABC 6
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On April 27th, Johnston police said an officer was struck by a vehicle at the Shell gas station on 1396 Hartford Avenue when he approached a driver and fired multiple rounds—injuring the male driver who is expected to survive while the officer is treated for minor injuries as investigators follow Attorney General protocols. - ➤ Providence police said a stolen Swansea Fire Department ambulance was recovered near Broadway and Atwells Avenue at about 1 a.m.—Rhode Island State Police led the investigation—and the Swansea department retrieved its vehicle. ABC 6
