Pawtucket police investigated a targeted shooting that took place Tuesday night near Bloomingdale Avenue and Humboldt Avenue — officers responded at 5:45 p.m. and an adult male with gunshot wounds was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Keith Stokes of Newport was named Rhode Island’s second historian laureate and will serve through April 30 (a five-year term) while set to speak at the Independence Day event on May 3 at the State House.
