- ➤ Police investigated a shooting on East Drive last night after finding a 29-year-old with a gunshot wound expected to survive— the suspect was later found on Hazael Street while one person in handcuffs was checked by EMS. ABC 6

- ➤ The Providence Fire Department held a swearing-in and commencement ceremony Saturday, May 3 at Bishop McVinney Auditorium where firefighters were honored for their bravery and several first responders received medals for quick service. City leaders including Mayor Brett Smiley and Police Chief Oscar Perez attended the event to recognize the firefighters' dedication. 10 WJAR
- ➤ Sen. Jack Reed honored 96-year-old Navy veteran Carmine Lombardi by presenting him with his earned World War II medals—such as the Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. Lombardi, who served on the USS Little Rock and was discharged in 1947, later worked in the jewelry business. ABC 6

- ➤ On May 3, RIFC fans marched to Centreville Bank Stadium as part of the Defiance 1636 parade and started a game-day tradition as they moved from parking lots to the Pawtucket stadium. The Providence Journal
- ➤ On May 3, Rhode Island FC held its home opener at Centreville Bank Stadium—fans arrived hours early to enjoy free RIPTA shuttle rides and tailgating before the 4 p.m. kickoff against San Antonio FC. This event marked the first game played at the new venue. The Providence Journal
- ➤ Rhode Island FC tied San Antonio FC 0-0 in their inaugural home game at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket on May 3 with over 10,700 fans watching—goalie Koke Vegas and midfielder Maxi Rodriguez made key saves to keep the score level. - ➤ Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas was removed in the bottom of the second inning on May 2nd after suffering a significant left knee injury during a game against the Minnesota Twins—he was taken off on a stretcher for further evaluation.
