- ➤ Providence officials will unveil major upgrades to India Point Park on Monday, May 12, featuring new seating, lighting, landscaping, and an expanded playground. The $2.2 million project is funded by the Capital Improvement Plan, ARPA, and Parks Funds to boost park access and resilience. 10 WJAR

- ➤ Brown University sophomore Alex Shieh released a commercial three days ago before his disciplinary hearing scheduled for Wednesday morning — he sent a mass 'DOGE Style' email to staff to protest charges of trademark and IT policy violations — and he said his move was meant to show he was being treated unfairly, while university officials said the review is only about detecting improper use of nonpublic data. 10 WJAR
- ➤ The Providence Public School District celebrated a beam raising ceremony for its new Frank D. Spaziano Middle School held Monday morning at Spaziano Elementary School—city officials including Mayor Brett Smiley, Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green, and Superintendent Javier Montañez attended. This event follows the December 2024 groundbreaking and is part of a $1 billion plan to provide modern buildings for all students by 2030. ABC 6

- ➤ A court order centered on the lot at 128 Wayland Ave has set a new rule that will affect developers in Providence—buildings taller than four stories will face restrictions. The Providence Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Jiarui Nie, a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institutes of Health who led the study at Brown University, is testing gold nanoparticles injected into the eye to restore vision in mice & offer a less invasive alternative to surgery. The team is now optimizing the method and planning further tests before considering human trials. The Boston Globe
