CRIME NEWS

  • A 10-count petition filed on May 12 accused former municipal judge and immigration lawyer Joseph Molina Flynn of professional misconduct—he allegedly took thousands from clients and failed to file asylum and work permit applications in cases including one where a single mother paid $5,000 without confirmation—and he resigned after an FBI search of his office.  The Boston Globe

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Mass of Installation installed Bruce Lewandowski as the 10th Bishop of Providence on May 20th with a ceremony that began at 1:00 p.m. and a Holy Mass at 2:00 p.m.—the late Pope Francis appointed him and a public reception followed at the Omni Hotel at 4:00 p.m.  10 WJAR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brown University’s 257th Commencement—part of a three-day celebration—will be held on May 25 on the College Green and is expected to draw over 10,000 people. Brown President Christina H. Paxson will lead the ceremony and live-streamed events will allow guests to follow the proceedings.  Brown University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Over 100 people protested Tuesday outside Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls where ICE holds federal detainees—supporters said the rally backed three Laotian men facing a transfer to a Louisiana facility and called for the release of a Dominican man detained after an April incident.  ABC 6
