ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Shellfishers can resume harvest in a 462-acre area along the Portsmouth shoreline south of Mt. Hope Bridge on Saturday, May 23, after water quality improved from wastewater and stormwater upgrades. The state Department of Environmental Management said the area had been closed to shellfish since 1975.  The Providence Journal

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Rhode Island Association of Realtors reported that in April the median price for a single-family home was $529,000 plus a 10.2% rise from last year, while sales dropped 6.9% and pending transactions fell 12.9%. Affordability remained a concern for many buyers as inventory grew during the spring market.  The Boston Globe
