- ➤ On Saturday night, Providence firefighters rescued a dog from an apartment building fire on Gesler Street+ officials said the cause is under investigation. 10 WJAR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Providence Mayor Brett Smiley proposed an 8% property tax levy increase—approved by the Rhode Island House on May 27—to address the city’s financial challenges. If the Senate approves the bill, new tax rates will take effect on July 1 and may raise bills differently by property type while giving seniors and veterans extra exemptions. The Providence Journal
