  • Gov. Dan McKee nominated community leader Bernard Georges from New Bridges for Haitian Success to serve on the RIPTA board and add needed racial and rider diversity by replacing former state Sen. • Sen. Alana DiMario passed a bill in the Senate by a 36 to 0 vote to let patients fill a 90-day ADHD medication prescription and now the bill awaits a committee hearing after Rep. Michelle McGaw’s amended version passed in the House by a 70 to 0 vote—lawmakers expect the two versions will be merged to ease monthly pharmacy visits.  Rhode Island PBS
  • On June 5, the Rhode Island House debated the proposed Assault Weapons Ban Act that would restrict the manufacture, sale and possession of certain semiautomatic firearms—40 of 75 members supported the bill amid fierce criticism from gun-rights activists.
