- ➤ A man was injured after his leg was caught in the rear wheel of a RIPTA bus at Charles Street and Randall Street when a bus driver, who said he was allegedly drunk, refused him boarding—police taped off the intersection and spoke with RIPTA officials. ABC 6
- ➤ Authorities are investigating drownings after a 21-year-old man from Providence was found in a Lincoln pond and a 31-year-old Providence resident was discovered in a Smithfield pond on Tuesday night — officials said both cases are being probed for accidental drowning. The Boston Globe
- ➤ Authorities said the body of a 31-year-old man from Providence was pulled from Georgiaville Pond in Smithfield on Tuesday around 9:15 p.m.—officials believe the drowning was accidental and are notifying his next of kin. 10 WJAR

- ➤ A 42-year-old man died on Tuesday night after being shot on Broad Street when officers arrived just before 9 p.m.—he was taken to a hospital but pronounced dead, and no suspects have been identified. ABC 6

- ➤ The Rhode Island General Assembly ended its session after 1 a.m. Saturday, and Globe’s Steph Machado and RI PBS host Jim Hummel explained key votes on the Rhode Island Report podcast. They discussed a compromise bill on assault-style weapons—along with changes to smoking rules at casinos, payday lender rate reforms, transit funding cuts, and a delay in property tax bills until mid-July. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gov. McKee toured the new $82 million state health lab under construction in Providence’s Jewelry District Tuesday as part of a plan to boost local life sciences—workers nearby are also building a life sciences structure for Brown University. The lab will open this fall, offer 25% more space, and create about 100 jobs while housing the state’s only level 3 biosafety facility used to study airborne germs. Rhode Island PBS
