- ➤ The Sayles Hill Rod and Gun Club in North Smithfield is rebuilding after a fire destroyed its building in April+the club hosted a cookout on July 13 to raise funds for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Members have started a GoFundMe campaign and plan to finish the new clubhouse by the end of the year+they say the club holds many cherished memories for local families. 10 WJAR
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Today, Jeanne Muto-Kyle filed a federal lawsuit in Providence federal court against Brian Dunckley and two companies—alleging they misused her retirement funds and breached fiduciary duty. She claims the funds were diverted to a separate account without her consent and seeks damages, fees, and other compensation. Go Local Prov
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Newport City Council will meet on July 15 at 7 p.m. in council chambers to discuss a resolution that seeks to keep the birthing center fully operational amid concerns that budget cuts could harm local emergency response and drive families away. Newport Hospital said final budget decisions have not been made and more details will come in the following weeks (following state budget discussions). The Providence Journal

- ➤ Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey welcomed their daughter Colette Annalise McCaffrey on July 13 — the couple shared heartfelt photos on Instagram and Culpo called the birth both scary and rewarding. The Providence Journal

- ➤ In Newport on Sunday, Zachary Svajda defeated 2023 champ Adrian Mannarino to win the men’s singles title while American Caty McNally beat top seed Tatjana Maria for the women’s singles crown.
