- ➤ Providence native Arthur A. Coia, a longtime labor leader and former president of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, died last week at age 82. - ➤ Providence City Council passed the city’s $624 million 2026 fiscal year budget that raises the tax levy by 5.85%—a measure designed to fund public schools and core services. The budget now returns to Mayor Brett Smiley’s desk for his signature before it takes effect. 10 WJAR
- ➤ The R.I. ACLU asked the Attorney General to release all video recordings from the Pawtucket shooting on June 8 and to review whether police followed their rules, noting that the released footage shows only the aftermath of the incident involving Sebastian Yidana, a mentally disabled man with a toy gun.
