- ➤ Lisa Pina-Warren—executive director of the Nonviolence Institute on the South Side—said on the R.I. Report podcast that growing up amid frequent violence in Providence drove her to choose nonviolence and work as a mediator in her community. The Institute, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year, sends workers into schools, businesses, and neighborhoods to help ease conflicts and save lives. The Boston Globe

- ➤ A Warwick woman faces charges after a dog died when 52-year-old Rosemyne Mazile left multiple dogs outside in the heat—officials report she is charged with unnecessary cruelty to animals and a felony for the dog’s death. 10 WJAR
- ➤ A Providence police body camera video shows that on July 17 officers responded to a crash on Alverson Avenue during a car chase involving an ICE agent and coordinated with masked ICE personnel—who helped secure the safe evacuation of nearby residents as they captured a man wanted by ICE.
