ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On July 26 the Providence Fire Department responded when a parapet wall of a building on Hartford Avenue collapsed inward around 9 p.m.—there were no injuries, the building was evacuated, and an inspector later declared it safe for occupancy.  ABC 6

CRIME NEWS

  • Two 16-year-old boys were shot on Saturday shortly before 2 p.m. in South Providence when their vehicle traveling on Saratoga Street was hit by gunfire on Reynolds Avenue—both were taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for treatment while a third teen driving was unharmed.  Go Local Prov
  • On Saturday afternoon in Providence, police responded to a report that a 65-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach near a McDonald's on Broad Street and taken to Rhode Island Hospital—officers then arrested a suspect a few blocks away with blood on his shirt and carrying a knife.  Go Local Prov

  • HBO’s 'The Gilded Age' hit a record four million Live+3 viewers on July 27th—marking a 20% increase over previous episodes and boosting Newport’s film industry after extensive local filming. The strong ratings raise hopes for a fourth season while adding momentum to local tourism.  Go Local Prov
  • HBO’s 'The Gilded Age' hit a record with 4 million Live+3 viewers for its latest episode—outperforming last week’s numbers—and boosted local film activity as many Newport locations were used for filming.
