- ➤ Thomas Perkins, 68, and his wife Agatha, 66, died in a plane crash on I-195 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts on October 13th when their Socata TBM 700 crashed shortly after takeoff from New Bedford Regional Airport+ the District Attorney confirmed they were the only occupants. Go Local Prov

- ➤ McDonald’s will bring back its Halloween Boo Buckets with five designs—three classic and two new—for Happy Meals on Tuesday, Oct 21, and they will be free with each meal. The collectible buckets, a tradition that started in 1986, will be available at local restaurants while supplies last. The Providence Journal

- ➤ Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt won the Nobel Prize in Economics Monday for their research on how technological innovation drives growth and creative destruction. They split a prize of 11 million Swedish kroner ($1.2 million) and warned that protectionist policies could slow progress by limiting openness and green innovation. The Public's Radio

- ➤ URI professor Rebecca Robinson spent 30 days off Nantucket collecting 250 water samples from different depths and is now testing them in her lab to find out if the nearly drinkable water is from an ancient aquifer or renewed by rainfall — her findings may guide future efforts to protect freshwater resources. - ➤ Ten 'No Kings' protests will be held in Rhode Island on Oct.—18, including one in Providence at the Rhode Island State House from 1—4 p.m.—organizers say the peaceful events will challenge authoritarian tactics and political dynasties. The Providence Journal

- ➤ Providence Journal analyzed pricing data from 10 hospitals in Rhode Island — reviewing 19 billing codes for procedures — to check if sites follow federal and state pricing rules. The study found that many hospitals list extra or missing prices that may confuse patients and businesses. The Providence Journal
