- ➤ The Providence Athenaeum displays artifacts that show how Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft were shaped by Providence, featuring a taxidermized crow under a glass cloche and a bust of Poe. The exhibits tie these literary figures to local legends like the Richmond Fountain and historic homes—preserving a rich horror tradition—while keeping their legacy visible today. - ➤ Yesterday, the family of a wheelchair-bound man filed an ADA complaint after high school officials placed him in a gravel area near the parking lot during a football game, preventing him from sitting with his family. - ➤ Brown University professor Ieva Jusionyte got a genius grant from the MacArthur Foundation to study how extraditing organized crime leaders from Mexico to the US affects justice (an $800,000 award). - ➤ Brown professor emerita Dr. Maureen Phipps was elected to the National Academy of Medicine for her work in reproductive and maternal health—she is one of 100 new members honored for her strong leadership in improving care.
