- ➤ Providence veteran Joseph Callei, 84, finally received the rifle award he missed in 1961 at the Bridge Cherry Hill Assisted Living Community in Johnston on Veteran's Day. His daughter worked with local staff and officials including Mayor Polisena and Senator DiMitri to honor him — the event featured certificates and a cake. 10 WJAR

- ➤ Whole Foods signed a 20-year lease on Oct. 1 for the 33,800-square foot former Eastside Marketplace at 165 Pitman St. in Providence, which has been empty since Stop & Shop closed last year. A $20 million loan was secured on Oct. 21 for the plaza and the lease bans renting spaces to fast food and grab-and-go vendors—an allowance is made for Bottles Fine Wine next door and limited dining options. - ➤ At Gamm Theatre on Jefferson Blvd in Warwick, the play Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune shows two middle-aged people dealing with love and regret. Directed by Rachel Walshe and running through Nov. 30, the production stars Liliane Klein and Anthony Goes and has tickets ranging from $60 to $80. The Boston Globe

- ➤ Three Providence Public School teachers were placed on leave and are under investigation for separate alleged incidents of unprofessional conduct at Lillian Feinstein, Veazie Street, and Pleasant View elementary schools—administrators said police responded promptly in one instance and investigations are ongoing. - ➤ Brown announced plans to expand financial support for graduate student veterans and launch the Cisneros Veterans Scholars Program, which will offer peer mentorship and financial aid for master’s and Ph.D. candidates; the move builds on efforts since 2019 to help veterans transition into civilian academic life. - ➤ Veterans Day celebrations took place Tuesday across southern New England to honor service members. Rhode Island officials including Senators Reed and Whitehouse, Congressmen Magaziner and Amo, Governor McKee and East Providence Mayor DaSilva marked the day with events in Bristol at 2 p.m. and at Veterans Memorial Park to honor late World War II veteran Corporal Avelino Rose—parades also began in North Kingstown, South Kingstown, New Bedford and Fall River. - ➤ Nurses union UNAP held a press conference on Veterans’ Day to demand that state leaders stop interfering with Centurion's bid to buy CharterCARE hospitals—a deal that had stalled for more than three years. The bankruptcy court had given all parties 60 days to finalize the sale before the hospitals were set to close. Go Local Prov
- ➤ RIDOT has announced that Providence highway ramp repairs will force the I-195 West to I-95 North ramp to close from Sunday night at 10 p.m. until Wednesday morning at 6 a.m.—the repairs will target damaged pavement. Two right lanes on 195 West from the South Main Street exit will also be closed overnight—commuters should plan alternate routes. ABC 6
