- ➤ Higher Ground International distributed Thanksgiving meals at its new Providence headquarters Thursday—feeding a record 700 families with turkeys, eggs, rice, seafood, vegetables and West African staples amid rising costs. ABC 6
- ➤ Local groups are helping Rhode Island families get Thanksgiving meals next Thursday — Boys Town New England in Warwick will give out meal bags with produce, canned food and sides from noon to 1 p.m., and Higher Ground International in Providence will offer comfort foods starting at 10 a.m. at its headquarters on Ninigret Avenue. These food drives follow a government shutdown that delayed SNAP benefits and left many households in need. ABC 6

- ➤ Trinity Rep’s 49th 'A Christmas Carol' is playing now through Dec. 31 in the small Dowling Theater—where actors sing and use simple stage tricks to retell Dickens’ tale. - ➤ Brown University raised pay for top executives even as it cut staff and sold assets—Brown President Paxson saw her salary jump 73% to over $3 million while Vice President Dietz earned more than $3 million. - ➤ Brown University engineers studied sodium-ion batteries and found that one-nanometer pores in hard carbon boost stability and energy density—this design could lower battery costs and lessen environmental damage compared to lithium versions. Brown University

- ➤ Two state agencies disagree on a proposal to ease high winter energy bills— the Public Utilities Commission wants to use surplus funds for monthly bill credits while the Division of Public Utilities argues the plan defers costs and may not be legal. Regulators met on November 19 and will reconvene on November 24 to review alternative relief measures. The Providence Journal
- ➤ The Centurion Foundation warned state regulators that discussions with Prime Healthcare undermined its financing efforts to purchase Roger Williams Medical Center and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in Providence—its proposal to lower the sale price to $116 million added urgency as safety-net services face uncertainty. - ➤ Brown University neuroscientist Frederike Petzschner is studying how body signals affect brain functions to help develop better treatments for chronic pain, anxiety and other health issues—her lab uses brain imaging and a free app to track pain and daily activities.
