  • Providence Journal Holiday Fund is accepting donations to help local children and teenagers receive basic essentials like clothing, toiletries, baby supplies and books—administered by the Rhode Island Foundation. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Retailers in Rhode Island will be closed on Thanksgiving while many open early on Black Friday; major stores like Walmart, Best Buy, and Kohl’s plan to start as early as 5 a.m. on November 28. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City leaders recognized 29 Providence Police Training Academy graduates who were sworn in at McVinney Auditorium on November 22. The 24-week training program produced a diverse class — including military veterans and first-generation officers committed to serving the community.  10 WJAR

  • Hendricken beat La Salle 13-3 at Cranston Stadium on Friday in the state championship as MVP Jeremy Seidi led a strong defensive performance. The Hawks earned their third straight title and overcame a challenging season—restoring confidence in their teamwork.  The Providence Journal
  • The University of Rhode Island football team defeated Hampton 38-10 on November 22 at Meade Stadium—clinching its first outright CAA championship since 1985 and earning an automatic FCS playoff bid. The Rams will learn their postseason seeding during the selection show today at noon on ESPNU.  The Providence Journal
  • Narragansett football avenged last year's title loss by defeating Davies 21-8 at Cranston Stadium on November 22 — earning its eighth championship overall — and forced five turnovers to secure the win.  The Providence Journal
