CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Rhode Island will host many holiday events this week including downtown Providence’s Holiday Festival and WaterFire from Dec. 4 to 7 and shows like A Christmas Carol running through Dec. 31 — visitors can explore light displays at Roger Williams Park Zoo, decorated historic mansions, and festive markets with set ticket prices — offering a variety of experiences for families and residents. - ➤ Drive-thru holiday light displays offer a festive way for families to enjoy the season from the comfort of their car. The Rhode Island Holiday Light Show runs daily—5–11 p.m. at Confreda Farms from Nov. 14 to Dec. 31, a second display in North Stonington runs from Nov. 21 to Dec. 31 with new designs, and Magic of Lights at Patriot Place shows over two million lights with varied hours. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A survey by the University of New Hampshire asked more than 700 state residents, and 78 percent of Rhode Islanders reported worry over winter energy costs with 40 percent very worried and 38 percent somewhat worried. The poll also shows most people expect higher prices for everyday items in the next year—echoing rising energy prices for heating fuel. The Boston Globe

- ➤ Bishop Lewandowski appointed Lt. Col. Robert A. Creamer as the Diocese of Providence director of compliance, and Creamer—formerly the deputy superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police—will take on the role on January 5th to improve child protection policies. - ➤ Clínica Esperanza provides free nonurgent health care and specialty services for uninsured residents, and Carolina said she felt relief when she became a patient after lacking a provider. The center serves about 4,000 individuals each year with a core staff and over 200 volunteers—patient navigators help bridge language and cultural gaps during visits. Rhode Island PBS
