- ➤ The Diocese of Providence approved two parish mergers in Pawtucket on Sunday, Dec. 7 as service attendance declined, with Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish merging into Saint John the Baptist Parish and Holy Family Parish merging into Saint John Paul II Parish (parishioners were informed at weekend Masses). 10 WJAR

- ➤ Lynn Singleton is retiring as CEO and president of the Providence Performing Arts Center, where he turned an old movie palace into a popular venue for concerts and plays.
