  • Grocery stores in Rhode Island will have modified hours on Christmas Eve, with many closing early to give employees time with their families. Shoppers should plan errands accordingly since Stop and Shop will close at 6 p.m., ALDI at 4 p.m., and Target will remain open until 8 p.m.  The Providence Journal

  • Esther’s High Dive, a new bar at the Aloft hotel on Dorrance Street in downtown, will open next week and offers playful cocktails and a late-night menu that blends modern mixology with pool party vibes.  The Boston Globe
  • Baristas at the Providence Financial Plaza Starbucks walked off the job Thursday, Dec. 11 as part of the Red Cup Rebellion, joining colleagues from 33 other cities in demanding a new union contract; company officials said they do not expect major disruption when talks resume.  ABC 6
