CULTURE NEWS

  • On Dec. 15, British Nigerian singer Odeal performed a Tiny Desk Concert at TPR studio, blending tracks from his new release with his earlier work while giving his mother a virtual front-row seat (a heartfelt moment).  The Public's Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brown University researchers are developing an AI model that lets robots move using simple text commands (the project unifies motion parameters across different machines). The team will focus on advancing robotic hand dexterity in coming years.  The Boston Globe
  • Smithfield High School's district is reviewing its policies after a hazing probe was mishandled, leading to Superintendent Bartz’s immediate resignation on Dec. 15. The School Committee will review all student handbooks amid an ongoing independent investigation by the Attorney General’s office and concerns over a mistaken letter sent to football families on Oct. 10.  The Providence Journal
  • Some private schools are closed today while Providence Public Schools remain open with after-school activities canceled for safety (increased security measures are in place following recent events).   • A report finds more college students are receiving disability accommodations as universities loosen requirements to boost awareness of ADHD, anxiety and depression.
