ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire at the Glocester Motor Inn displaced 26 residents after firefighters responded around 12:15 p.m. today — one person sustained minor burns, and the Rhode Island Fire Marshal, along with the Red Cross, is investigating the incident and providing assistance. ABC 6
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Brown University admitted 890 early decision students to the Class of 2030 on Dec. 17 after delaying notifications due to a campus tragedy. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Brown University Health has moved to respiratory status yellow amid high virus transmission and now requires surgical masks for patients, visitors and staff during direct care. The new mandate begins today at all Brown facilities. 10 WJAR

The Providence Tourism Council, the City of Providence, and Mayor Brett P. Smiley are thrilled to announce the 3rd annual citywide New Year's Eve celebration with the Illuminate PVD Fireworks at the 195 District Park and the Michael Van Leesten Pedestrian Bridge on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Featuring local musicians, dance performances, a 360-degree photo booth, and a DJ spinning tunes all night, the party, fueled by a selection of food trucks and a tented beverage garden, will groove right up to the fireworks display at 8:30 PM.
