ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday, a highway on-ramp in Cranston fell onto train tracks, so Amtrak cancelled trains & RIDOT worked through the night to check the scene while closing the ramp and urging drivers to take alternate routes.  Go Local Prov

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Representative Ray Hull (a police officer) announced his backing of mayoral candidate Brett Smiley, reversing past criticism and supporting Smiley’s plan to strengthen Providence. The endorsement comes ahead of the reelection campaign.  Go Local Prov

SPORTS NEWS

  • Saturday’s sports events featured local baseball, softball & lacrosse games, with Hendricken’s 13-2 win and Lincoln’s 12-0 shutout leading the action; additional wins for Cranston East and East Providence rounded out the day as more contests remain scheduled.  The Providence Journal
