ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ More than 45 city firefighters responded to a house fire on Lubec Street in Providence on Monday, April 28th— the blaze started just before 1 p.m. and included an explosion while firefighters battled the flames, leaving all residents unharmed while one firefighter was treated for shoulder and back pain. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ ICE defended its agents after tasing a Dominican man during an arrest in Providence on Thursday — the agency said he resisted by reaching for an officer’s belt and had a previous arrest record — while some protesters outside a local hospital criticized the incident. ABC 6
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Paige Moreau, a Roger Williams University student from Rhode Island, died on April 26 in Florence, Italy after a medical emergency during her study abroad program. She served as a resident assistant and orientation manager, worked as an intern in Providence + her loss has left her community mourning. The Providence Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brown oceanographer Baylor Fox-Kemper explained that climate change is stressing Rhode Island's drinking water systems as rising sea levels and more extreme weather are affecting coastal islands like Aquidneck and Conanicut.
